M/Y KANALOA Crew Profile
July 2016 Update
CAPTAIN: Dean Homan
With over 20 years’ experience in the yachting industry I have gained a skill level that gives me the ability to run a Super Yacht to the highest standard. I have built up a loyal network of contacts that allow me to maintain and run a first rate operation.
I am highly service motivated and energetic and expect the crew to have the same standards, not only in work execution, but in the way they conduct themselves in general. I believe in lead by example. As I’ve had to step in to all roles on board, I know what’s expected in all departments, being a charter captain and working in the luxury industry for many years has allowed me to easily deal and anticipate the needs and desires of all types of clients from around the world, as well as the needs of the crew, so they can perform their duties to the highest level.
CHIEF STEWARDESS: Clair Minto
Our chief stewardess, Clair is from the North of England, and before starting her career in yachting she had various roles in hospitality, in restaurants, hotels and casinos in the UK, Australia, France and Greece.
Clair has been in the super yachting industry for the past 9 years on various size boats, both in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, she joined Kanaloa as Chief Stewardess this summer. She has a genuine enthusiasm for ensuring that her guests have a great time and is always available to answer any questions or assist in any way she can.
CHEF: Clyde May
Clyde was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa and always had a passion for great food. He started his career in restaurants when he was 16 years old and even though he was just a junior pizza maker he quickly grew up and continued to work as a line cook throughout high school and college. In 2014 he saw an opportunity and jumped straight into the Yachting Industry where he has been working as a Sole Chef. In July 2014 he joined MY Kanaloa, and he enjoys interacting with guests and is always happy to share his recipes. He takes great pride in the presentation of his dishes.
STEWARDESS: Kerry Maitland-Warne
Kerry comes from one of the most multicultural cities in the world, Cape Town in sunny South Africa. Coming from a background of restaurant management and more recently accounting, she decided to change her direction in life and move to Europe to pursue a career in the Yachting Industry. She has been on board MY Kanaloa for almost 2 years and the crew loves her kindness, enthusiasm and willingness to always help.

CHIEF ENGINEER: Andrew Lewis
I started my yachting career in 1999 and continue to enjoy the challenge of working on so many different systems.
In my time off I love off road driving and camping in the National Parks of Namibia and Botswana.
Kanaloa is my first Chief Engineer role and I hope to use my experience on other prestige yachts to raise the standard of systems onboard to the highest levels expected by guests.
ENGINEER: Dorian Barbillon
I’m Dorian, The Frenchman, all the way from the South of France. I got interested in Engineering at a young age, influenced by my father, I went on to study Marine Engineering.
I started working at sea when I was only 16 years old, working for a big international oil tanker fleet cruising far and wide. With the yachting industry being right on my doorstep, I thought I’d take my newly obtained Y3 qualification and try my hand at yachting and broaden my marine engineering experience. This is my first season in the industry, and I’m looking forward to many more, especially on Kanaloa with her vibrant crew.
